Santa Teresa Surf Costa Rica
In the north of the Puntarenas province, south of the Nicoya Peninsula, there is a tiny village called Playa Santa Teresa. It is recognized worldwide as having some of the finest surfing conditions in Costa Rica. This beach is secluded and there are no big constructions on the beach and the town consists of one main road and all commerce and small hotels are on the sides.
The beach here offers plenty of activities to keep you busy including hiking, canopy tours and horseback riding or for those wishing to chill out and relax; you can just enjoy the sun and sunbathe for the day. There is also some good nightlife around as well as excellent dinning.
With its beautiful grey/white sandy beach and all year round swells, it is no wonder that this is a popular surfing location all year round. The off shore winds are consistent enough to provide top quality surfing throughout the year but the swells reach their peak from May to December. World class waves, suitable for any degree of surfing experience is provided by a fantastic beach break. The waves which come from the right and the left make for powerful, clean open face waves with some hollow rides on the low tide. The wave lengths are normally 50 meters but they can reach as long as 200 meters. With varying swells coming from the north-west, west and south west and with a wind westerly wind direction, the surfing conditions here are absolutely amazing. The surfing here is good all day long, but is better at dawn or sunset. Swells can reach up to 17 feet.
Playa Santa Teresa offers a perfect holiday setting and top quality surfing conditions.
