When the Manuel Antonio National Park started to become more and more well known, the little town of Manuel Antonio started to become more and more popular, with hotels being built both in the town, on the beach and on the road into the town. The stunning picturesque views on the road to Manuel Antonio have led to many exclusive hotels being built. The cheaper, budget hotels are mainly found on the beach. The National Park continues to be a draw for tourists with its beautiful beaches, stunning settings and luxuriant rainforest.
Surfing conditions in Manuel Antonio are good and are suitable for surfers with any experience. It has a beach break with right and left peaks and the waves provide fun rides for all. Wave length can reach a maximum of 150 meters but the average length is less than 50 meters. Swell direction is south west to south and wind comes from the east. This all combines to give swells that begin at just three feet but which can reach heights of over 16 feet. In order to get the best surfing conditions, it is advisable to wait for mid to high tides. It can get quite busy here at the weekends so it is best to come during the week. The beach is easy to find as it is within the city of Manuel Antonio.
