South of Puerto Viejo, lies the small village of Playa Cocles with its fabulous beaches and stunning luxurious scenery.  The area here is laid back and stress free and is a perfect place to chill out.

Playa Cocles is a great place to surf with regional classic waves here especially suited to the experienced surfer.  There is a right and left beach break with fun powerful rides.  There waves here are extremely long lasting up to 500 meters in length and have been known to reach heights of twelve feet and over.  With an easterly swell and southerly wind direction, the surfing conditions here are outstanding.  This beach has been awarded a blue flag which means that it is clean and safe.  It can get quite busy with locals so it would be best to visit here during the week.
